Women's Goddess Retreat -- Coloring Book & Anthology: Submission Guidelines

Asteria Books & Events is so pleased to announce that it is accepting submissions for TWO publication projects related to its very own long-running Women's Goddess Retreat. Any person who has attended the retreat since its inception in 2009 is encouraged to submit art, poetry, flash nonfiction, and fiction to these projects (as described in the Project Submission Guidelines below).

Coloring Book ~

We are looking for submissions related to any of the Goddesses we have covered in the 12 years of the retreat, with an emphasis on representations depicting the lessons they have shared with us specifically. We would also love submissions relating to our roles as Priestesses and our experiences as Women. This book is meant to be a reflection of the work and the wisdom we have shared and uncovered together in the years (now more than a decade) that we have been circling together. From our sacred fires, our Rites of Passage, our Goddess Circles -- all of it! Images of power, tenderness, and grace; words of wisdom, encouragement, humor. We want it all.

* Art - Clean line art -- at least 300 dpi, JPG, PNG, or GIF
* Text - Poetry, chants, flash nonfiction -- 100 words max -- DOC

Anthology ~

We anticipate this will be the first of possibly several anthologies to be born from our beloved retreat. Our Goddesses have shared so much wisdom with and through us over the last 12 years -- and they aren't done! (Neither are we!) In keeping with retreat custom, we are allowing the Goddesses to dictate the theme this first time. They'll show us their voice by speaking through the writers who come forward.

Our vision is to have participants share the stories and wisdom that they feel most drawn to share -- from whichever years, Goddesses, pantheons, they feel moved to speak about. You do not have to have been a facilitator to write about a particular Goddess or Rite of Passage. We want to hear from a variety of perspectives. What we ask is that you identify as many of these particulars as you can within your submission: year, Goddess, stated lesson, activity. (If you are writing about a Rite of Passage or some other aspect of the retreat, give as many particulars -- year, Rite, etc -- as you can.) From there, you can share whatever insight, wisdom, humor, take-away, etc. that you wanted. We're telling stories within stories -- ours and the Goddesses'. Circles within circles. And sharing those ever-widening circles of love and wisdom with the women of our retreat (and beyond).

  2. 2013 was at Moonglow Farm -- and was our year of Greek Goddesses. And for all reference points: 2009-2012 were at Our Haven. 2014-2019 were at Midian. 2020 was Virtual. (2014 was the Norse Goddess year.)
